Such a fun night watching a few great very short (3-4 songs) sets, capped off by this master. I once heard someone say his playing “sounds like rain,” which always stuck with me. His playing is definitely in my musical DNA, and it was inspiring how much emotion he was able to invoke in just 30 minutes with just voice and piano. Such a legend, I definitely feel grateful to be alive at the same time @brucehornsby is making art on this planet 🙏 🎶🎵. Thanks @bluebirdmusicfestival for the tix!! … btw @isaacslade was awesome as well and so were the opening set kiddos, just no pics.

This song, entitled “Quickening,” was inspired by the crazy phenomenon of Consciousness “flipping on” at some point while a baby is in utero. Doesn’t matter how or when you think that happens (this is not a political post), it just blows my mind that it happens millions of times a day all over the world. And then we just all end up walking around here as though it’s completely ordinary; the fact that anything IS at all is still incredible to me. 🤯🌖🪐 … The song is from a record of mine called “Beautiful Illusion” (link in bio). This was one of the coolest moments of any show I’ve played. I learned day of show that apparently @endsleyshane plays drums, in addition to being an incredible trumpet player. I had never heard him play drums before, and just told him that if he feels inspired during the show to feel free and hop on the kit. This was the moment he hopped on the kit for the first time, and it felt like magic from here on out … ✨🎵🎶✨
